Restless fingers
Wednesday, September 28, 2005The biggest downside of moving to London is my current lack of access to a piano. I am without keys, locked out of one of the most enjoyable facets of my life; the thing which inspired, calmed, grounded and sometimes astounded me. My fingers are growing wide and stubby.
I never thought I’d miss it quite this much.

Don’t be silly Simon. You can come over and play on mine if you want. There are TWO pianos in this house so you actually have a choice.

Would an electronic keyboard be out of the question? I’d imagine they’re not as expensive or space-consuming.

Sadly I don’t even have enough room for an electronic keyboard in my current digs. How depressing! Must move somewhere of a sensible size…

Simon - you have my sympathies! I had to give up my lovely Victorian piano when I last moved. I bought a keyboard, but it’s just not the same… I miss being able to work out my stress and frustration, from forte to piano, in a hour of finger exercise.

it sucks when something like that is a such a part of you, because its kindof like losing a limb. not that that helps, obviously. its just my way of saying sorry i can’t help…

You’ll just have to start giving lessons so you can play on ‘clients’ pianos.
